Surface cleaning method of stainless steel precision castings

Oct 27, 2022

The mechanical properties of stainless steel precision casting are higher than those of cast iron in the process of use, but the performance of such materials will be worse than that of cast iron, and its melting point during the production process is compared to other materials be taller. So do you know what are the surface cleaning methods of stainless steel precision castings?

1. Dry cleaning of stainless steel precision casting

Dry cleaning includes friction cleaning and blast cleaning. However, due to the low efficiency and poor effect of friction cleaning, stainless steel precision casting products are rarely used at present. The so-called dry treatment generally refers to shot blasting.

2. Stainless steel precision casting wet cleaning

1) Hydraulic sand cleaning. It refers to a method in which high-pressure water input by a high-pressure water pump is used to form a high-pressure jet through the nozzle of the spray gun, and the sand and sand core on the surface of the casting are shot for sand cleaning.

2) Electro-hydraulic sand cleaning. The basic principle is the electro-hydraulic hammer effect, which uses a high-voltage pulse generator to conduct phase-to-phase discharge through a special electrode placed in the water, resulting in a large hydraulic shock. Due to the difference in the elastic modulus and vibration frequency of the surface adhesion of the precision casting product and the casting itself, the purpose of sand cleaning is achieved. It has a relatively reliable cleaning effect for castings with complex shapes such as deep holes, blind holes and inner cavities.

The surface defects of stainless steel precision castings are mainly manifested as pits, or we call them pits. If this phenomenon occurs, we can only choose to scrap it, resulting in an increase in our production cost, which is not conducive to the resource conservation of products.
